14. Software Translator

Developing software to translate a text into another language is not an easy task. Some current software has translated word-by-word of a text into another language. This is not a good way. For example,

“Người ta” in Vietnamese could be “people”, “they”, “he”, or “she”.
However, by translating word-by-word it would be “people I”, i.e. incorrect translation.

The only option was to read the whole text and figure out what the writer meant before attempting to translate. There are parts of texts that software wouldn’t be able to guess such as “addressee” unless it could figure out based on the whole text.
Computer software is not as smart as people. It does what software developers told it to do.
Software Translator is like an expert or artificial system. It reads, learns, and guesses meaning of a text.
